Bakery Oven Operative
📍 Location: Blackwells Butchers
🕓Hours: 4:00 AM – 11:00 AM, 5 days/week (Monday – Saturday)
We’re looking for a reliable, early rising Bakery Oven Operative to join our friendly and hardworking team.
This is a hands-on role where you’ll be baking our famous homemade pies and pastries each morning, ensuring everything is ready for our shop and Street Deli Vans. You’ll be opening the bakery, operating the ovens, and assisting with product preparation—making you a vital part of our daily success.
What You’ll Be Doing:
- Opening the bakery independently each morning
- Operating commercial bakery ovens
- Baking pies, pastries, and other fresh products
- Maintaining cleanliness and food safety standards
- Supporting the Bakery Manager and team
What We’re Looking For:
- Must be to reach at least 180 cm (due to oven deck height)
- Physically fit – able to lift, bend, and stand for long periods
- Early riser and self-motivated
- Experience in a bakery is a plus, but not required
- Reliable, hardworking, and a team player

Join our team and become a vital part of our kitchen operations. As a Kitchen Assistant, you’ll work closely with the Kitchen/Catering Manager to help prepare hot and cold deli products, oven-ready meals, and sides that meet our high-quality standards.
Your Main Responsibilities:
Kitchen Production: work independently preparing, cooking, and packaging deli products with care and consistency.
Quality Assurance: Help maintain Blackwells’ reputation for excellence through consistent product quality.
Compliance: Follow food safety rules, allergen guidance, and kitchen regulations.
Collaboration: Work with other departments to supply food to our vans, deli counters, and takeaway offerings.
Cleanliness: Keep work areas tidy and maintain high hygiene standards.
Admin Tasks: Complete paperwork and kitchen logs as directed by the Kitchen Manager.
Physical Work: Be ready for physically demanding kitchen tasks.
Flexibility: Adapt and assist with other duties as needed to support the team.
